GP surgery evacuated after fire alarm tripped

Patients waiting to be seen at a Southport doctors surgery this afternoon were evacuated after a fire scare.

Two fire engines were called to Hampton Road GP Clinic just after 4pm this afternoon.

Staff evacuated the building after a fire alarm sounded and all patients were asked to leave.

Fire crews in full gear entered the premises to investigate but the situation is not thought to be serious.

Residents from neighbouring houses also left their properties to investigate what was going on.

It’s understood the situation has now de-escalated and fire crews have left the scene.
