Burger fans are in for a treat as Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) announces the opening of its newest restaurant at Ocean Plaza just in time for Valentine’s Day.
From 13 February, burger buffs at Southport will be able to sink their teeth into GBK’s favourites like the ‘The Major Tom’ with a 28 day aged beef patty, crispy bacon, beef ketchup and blue cheese slaw or try the new special ‘Veg-Out’, with sweet potato, pea and feta croquettes, grilled aubergine, chermoula yoghurt, Cajun relish and garlic mayo. These winning combinations can be tried on their own or washed down with a mind meltingly good milkshake (try the new Black & White milkshake with vanilla ice cream and Kalamata olive sugar).
Proud of serving gourmet burgers since 2001, GBK kick-started the premium burger trend in the UK, setting itself apart from the rest with a huge range of adventurous crafted burgers. Using only 100% prime beef, hand selected and traditionally reared on independent farms across the South West counties, GBK uses the freshest ingredients and creates sauces from scratch in the restaurant every day.

GBK Senior Marketing Manager, Laura Pettingale comments: “We’ve had a great response from the community since announcing our opening plans and we can’t wait to fire up the grills and welcome burger lovers through our door. Southport will be our first seafront location in the North West and diners will be able to take in views of the Irish Sea while enjoying some GBK favourites like the Major Tom or the Taxidriver.”
Inspired by its seaside location, GBK Southport has a colourful and fun interior with a special hatch on the shopfront allowing shoppers to grab a milkshake on the go. The open plan space, with table and booth seating allows diners to enjoy their GBK favourites while taking in views of the Irish Sea.
GBK Southport will be the restaurant’s 81st to open, the restaurant will create 20 jobs in the local area.
