Those looking for a sunny respite from the doom of gloom of local lockdown may want to look away from this week’s weather forecast.
Heavy and continuous rain from the weekend which has caused significant flooding to the more rural parts of Southport isnt set to get any better, with the resort facing nearly 7 days of continuous wet weather.
The Met Office is forecasting grey skies and frequent rain showers for the northern parts of Merseyside, lasting through to Sunday before the sun properly returns.
The news will come as frustration to those living in the Crossens area of Southport which is already struggling to cope with the impact of heavy rain this weekend.
The coastal road also remains an area of concern with the road surface suffering considerably in recent days. Parts of Mere Brow are also heavily affected and motorists travelling to and from Preston are advised to do so with care.
