A six-foot giant Perspex egg, believed to be the biggest chocolate-filled egg in the city, has been installed in Central Station as part of a competition for passengers.

The huge model is jam-packed with foil-wrapped eggs, and customers are being invited to guess how many lie within its shell for a special Easter competition that will see the winner walk away with £150 worth of high street vouchers.

Similar, smaller Perspex eggs are also on show in eight other MtoGo stores at Old Hall Street, Moorfields, Lime Street Low Level, Hooton, Hamilton Square, Southport, Maghull and Waterloo stations, where customers can win £50 worth of high street vouchers for correctly guessing the amount of chocolate eggs inside.

To enter, customers are asked to fill in a competition card in store and post it in the box provided before Easter Monday on April 22nd. The person whose guess is closest to the correct answer will be crowned the winner.

And if you’re wondering what will happen to the contents of the large egg, rest assured they will be sent to a good home at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Merseyrail’s Charity of the Year for 2019.

Suzanne Grant, Commercial Director of Merseyrail said: “The Easter bunny has certainly arrived early in our MtoGo stores and we’re delighted to be able to host this fun competition.

“With high street vouchers on offer for our winning customers, and lots of chocolate eggs poised to go to the children spending time at Alder Hey, we hope that we’ll be able to put the smile on lots of people’s faces this Easter.”

There are ten MtoGo stores across the Merseyrail network combining a traditional ticket and travel information office with a convenience store. As well as buying tickets, passengers can also pick up a range of produce including meal deals, fresh milk, magazines and newspapers.
