Get back into Netball with Active Sefton
Active Sefton is encouraging residents to get active with England Netball’s Back to Netball initiative.
The netball sessions provide women of all ages with a gentle re-introduction to the sport with classes led by passionate and enthusiastic coaches.
Sessions will cover the basics of the game including passing, footwork and shooting before finishing with a friendly game, to put new found skills into practice.
Sessions are held every Wednesday at Chesterfield High from 6.30pm to 7.45pm and new sessions will launch at Crosby Leisure Centre on Monday, May 14 and will take place every Monday from 8pm-9pm.
This is a great way to get active in a team sport environment where, as well as keeping fit and healthy, participants can meet new people and have fun while they exercise.
No special kit is required and anyone who’d liked to participate is welcome to wear anything they’re comfortable exercising in.
Tina Pilkington, Health and Wellbeing Development Manager at Sefton Council, said:
“Perhaps riding on the success of England’s gold medal winning Commonwealth team, netball has recently burst back into prominence.
“It is a game that many of us enjoyed at school, but for some reason never continued to play in later life. Back to Netball initiative brings together exercise and healthy competition in a way that makes keeping fit and active truly enjoyable.”
