Friends of a Southport man currently fighting for his life in hospital say they do not know what the future holds for the hero who tired to stop a group of men from stealing a friends bike in Southport.
The man, named locally as Cole, is described as a well known member of the local biker community but his life was turned upside down on Friday evening.
Cole suffered what his friends describe as life changing injuries after falling from the back of a transit van as he tried to save his friends’ precious bike from being stolen from Southport promenade.
A police investigation has since led to one man being charged with Conspiracy to steal; and Fraud by false representation.
Cole’s friends have now launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise funds for any medical treatment he may need going forward.
They said “
We are raising funds for our beloved friend Cole who is currently in hospital battling life threatening injuries after interrupting and trying to prevent a bike theft. Our hope is that when he returns home the money can provide health care, home adaptions and any physical therapy he may need.
On Friday 19th at 8:20pm three men set out to steal multiple bikes from an address on Southport promenade. Cole in a display of bravery attempted to retrieve and prevent the bikes from being stolen, unfortunately he was critically injured when falling from a moving van. Cole’s actions were a reflection of his character: selfless, kind, brave, innocent with a childishly funny sense of humour and above all else, placed loyalty to his friends and family over anything. The bike he tried to retrieve was his friends, like I said, his loyalty to his friends was his back bone. As a biker, Cole belongs to a biker community, someone who enjoys the quiet life, a view and the comradery of meeting with friends and fellow bikers.
Unfortunately due to the type of injuries Cole has sustained (head and chest) his recovery and medical requirements to live are unknown. We would like to raise funds for his family to secure the care Cole needs and ensure he is comfortable at home when he can return.
If you could donate and share this post to a wider audience to support our donation target it would be appreciated.”
