Eco campaigners have said free newspapers are causing more harm to the local environment than ever before.
Every week piles of thousands of thrown away and dumped Champions and Visiters are found and cleared away.
Local green campaigner Jamie Nicholson told OTS News “Not only are less and less people reading free papers, the delivery boys and girls who are supposed to take them to homes just dump them in woodland or out of sight causing a major ecological issue.”
”People don’t think that piles of paper would be as harmful as plastics but they are. For a start the production uses thousands of reems which came from beautiful living trees.”
”Nobody reads these papers anymore and local print journalism has, like our beautiful trees, died.”
”The more people who cancel their subscriptions, the better and we may have a chance to save our environment.”
