Emergency crews have taped off the former Grand Cinema on Lord Street after a serious incident at the building.
The site has long been a thorn in the side of emergency services with thefts, arson, illegal gatherings and criminal activity taking place within the all but dilapidated building near to Farmfoods.
It’s understood an emergency 999 call was made following fears that young children had been seen on the roof of the building.
Police and crews from Merseyside Fire and Rescue were once again called to the Grand this afternoon shortly before 2pm following an emergency call.
Fire crews erected a ladder to access the roof of the building while police have erected a crime scene cordon while the incident is dealt with.
One eye witness said “they all just descended in seconds it was a speedy response.
“At first I thought someone had tried to set fire to the building but I couldn’t see any smoke or signs of fire.”
