Former Farnborough teacher passed away aged 65

An ex teaching assistant has died suddenly aged 65.

Lyn Shaw, who worked at Farnborough Road Infant School in Southport for more than 20 years until retiring in 2015, suffered a stroke while visiting family in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Since her retirement from Farnborough Road in 2015, Lyn became more actively involved in her local church and, at the time of her death, was a church warden at St Peter’s, Birkdale.

Lyn was an avid reader and was one of Southport Library’s most regular visitors and had actively campaigned to save local libraries.

Lyn is survived by her husband of 33 years, Simon. Together they had four children, Samuel, Sophie, Thomas and Emily. In 2016, Lyn and Simon welcomed their granddaughter, Charlotte. Lyn and Simon lived in Birkdale all their married life.
