Emma Arends, a familiar face in her youth as a starlet of the Southport Dramatic Club, will be the face of a brand new cinema screening of the much loved children’s TV show Peppa Pig.
The film will be broadcast across the United Kingdom, Australia and America from April 7 this year.
An excited Emma, who will be recognised by many sandgrounders as an ex Farnborough Road and Formby High pupil, caught the acting bug from an early age during her time ‘treading the boards’ the resort.
She trained at a youth theatre school in London and even starred alongside Pauline Daniels at the Liverpool Empire.
Nowadays Emma will be a familiar face for hundreds of thousands of parents and young children as ‘Daisy’, the human compatriot of popular kids cartoon figure Peppa Pig during live theatre productions.
And she is now set to become an even bigger star when she takes ‘Daisy’ to the big screen as part of a special initiative to encourage more pre-school age children to visit the cinema.
Emma said: “I’ve been touring with Peppa Pig’s Live shows ‘Peppa Pig’s Surprise’ and ‘Peppa Pig’s Big Splash’ for the last couple of years as Peppa’s human friend ‘Daisy’.
“But they have now made a movie called ‘Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience’.
“Its an exciting new preschool cinema experience that involves lots of dancing, singing and jumping around.
“The film is made up of nine brand new episodes and then connected with never before seen interactive entertainment with Peppa and George’s new friend ‘Daisy’ – played by myself.
“Its a very colourful, fun world.
“The children – and of course the adults too – are encouraged to join in, sing along to well known nursery rhymes, jump up and down in muddy puddles and play games.
“It’s very exciting as Peppa Pig is such a hugely loved children’s programme, I’m very proud to be a part of it.
“I grew up in Southport, going to Farnborough Road and then Formby High. I loved being involved with the SDC during my early teens.
“From the age of 14 for two years I used to travel back and forth to Sylvia Young Theatre School in London on a Saturday.
“I then trained at Arts Ed Drama School.
“When I graduated my first professional job was playing Young Helen alongside Pauline Daniels at The Liverpool Empire.”
Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience opens all around UK on April 7.
