Formby High School is proud to announce the outstanding achievements of our Sixth-Form students in the 2024 examinations. Their hard work, resilience, and determination have propelled them to unprecedented success, building on last year’s success and making this a momentous occasion for our school community.
Key highlights include:
– Record top grades achieved: An impressive 34% of entries were awarded A*-A grades, with 59% of our entries scoring A*-B grades, reflecting students’ commitment and the exceptional teaching they received at Formby High School. Four in five entries were graded at C or above, with an overall pass rate of 99%. The average grade achieved this year was B-. An impressive 20% of students achieved at least three A grades (or equivalent).
– Exceptional outcomes in vocational qualifications: Achievement in the wide range of vocational and technical qualifications on offer is exceptional, with 71% of entries achieving the highest grades of Distinction or Distinction* and 94% graded Merit or higher.
– Top university and apprenticeship destinations: Our students have secured places at prestigious universities across the country with many joining Russell Group institutions. Students will pursue further studies in a wide range of fields from medicine and veterinary science to business and engineering, English, music and PPE. We are also delighted with the continuing increase in students pursuing high-quality degree-level apprenticeships in areas such as quantity surveying and law, civil service and policing, project management and electrical services.
– Subject excellence: Students excelled across a wide range of subjects, from Mathematics and Sciences to Humanities and Arts. Their passion and determination have maintained the high standard for academic achievement at Formby High School Sixth Form.
Mr David Pearson, Chair of Governors, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments. He commended the collaborative efforts of teachers, parents, and the entire school community in nurturing students to fulfil their potential.
Mr Alex Wood, Headteacher at Formby High School, praised the students’ determination to achieve, commenting, “These outstanding results are the culmination of many years of hard work from our Year 13 students, and it was wonderful to see the delight on the faces of our students and their families as they collected their results. As always, these results are a team effort and I am grateful to the dedicated and talented team of staff who have supported our students magnificently throughout their time at Formby High School.
