Formby bypass shut after four car smash

Police have closed off the South bound carriageway of the Formby bypass after a nasty collision this afternoon.

Officers from Merseyside Police made the decision to close the Liverpool bound lanes of the busy bypass after four cars collided with each other near to RAF Woodvale.

Paramedics have also been called to the road traffic collision, which happened shortly after 2pm this afternoon.

The condition of all four vehicles occupants is currently unknown. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area completely and seek alternative routes out of Southport.
