Traffic at a crawl on the Formby Bypass this morning.
Weather Office wrong-footed by lowland snow
The latest Met Office forecast has been criticised as the snow risk was not highlighted significantly enough for the region.

The official forecast of ‘mostly hill snow’ was given, yet the scene at low-lying Woodvale to Formby this morning appears to mock this prediction.

As the snow melted, slush made some local roads quite dangerous.
Accidents on roads have been reported in various areas such as Ormskirk, Burscough, Formby, Halsall etc.
Some schools were closed, due to travel problems.
