Southport needs a last ditch ‘strategy’ to save it from dying say frustrated residents.

An Ex tourism boss, who wants to remain nameless, said they have lived in the town for many years and the current state is the worst they can ever remember.

They said “As a resident of Southport for more than 30 years, I have witnessed the steady decline of the resort and although this isn’t as great as other coastal resorts, it is still very worrying.

The injection of a share of £1m increased my concerns rather than alleviating them.

Southport needs a transformative strategy not just money for short term projects that are unlikely to have any real impact.”
