A pair of violent yobs were arrested after violence broke out after a football match in Southport.
Merseyside Police were called to Russell Road playing fields at around 6pm on Tuesday, April 2 2019 following an under-16s football match.
Threats were allegedly made towards spectators by a group of youths who had reportedly been shouting verbal abuse during the game.
A man in his 50s was punched in the face, resulting in a ‘non- life threatening’ head injury and was taken to hospital.
Two other males were also assaulted resulting in minor injuries.
A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both from Southport, were arrested on Wednesday, April 3 on suspicion of violent disorder and were taken to a police station for questioning.
