Fire in electrical cupboard at Southport home

Firefighters were called to a fire in an under-stairs electrical cupboard at a property on Preston New Road in Southport on Sunday, December 11.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 1.22pm and crews were alerted at 1.23pm. They were on scene at 1.29pm.

Two fire engines attended the incident and crews used a C02 extinguisher and a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.

They also carried out a Home Fire Safety Check.

Electrical intake equipment was severely damaged by fire and an adjacent gas meter was damaged by fire.

A pantry and its contents were damaged by heat and smoke. No-one was injured.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around 35 minutes.
