At least four fires have reportedly broken out in the space of a few minutes this evening near to Southport hospital.
Brave motorists and passers by tried to tackle two fires near to Town Lane this evening just after 8.30pm
Fire crews were called and remain on scene around the Bentham’s Way area of Kew.
The larger of the two blazes, which could be seen for miles around, is understood to have been ignited on scrub land near to Dobbies Garden Centre.
A further fire broke out a few minutes later closer to Southport Hospital off Town Lane roundabout.
Witness and heroic member of the public Kyle Molyneux told OTS News: “I rushed out the car and flagged down some awesome members of the public to help put out the fire with water and a fire extinguisher.
“I’ve heard there were at least two more in the area, so four in total.
“Can’t be a coincidence. The fire brigade were at the big one near Dobbies pretty quick, so credit to them.”
