Southport Theatre is in need of millions of pounds of vital repairs, a report has revealed.
Lib Dem councillors have seen a report by surveyors which says it will take a staggering £6 million to fix the theatre after discovery of major safety concerns including asbestos and structural damage.
The theatre which is owned by the council now faces fears it could be closed for good as the Council are likely to say they have no money to fix it.
One councillor told OTS news they suspect that a long legal battle will now be drawn out between the council and the theatre’s previous tenants the Ambassador Theatre Group to try and claim back some of the cash to avoid shutting it down for good
