A Southport food establishment is proving the Pies the limit as they rise to the challenge of Britain’s Best Pie.
The Farmhouse Kitchen are putting their hugely popular assortment of delicious pies up against some of the best in Britain as part of the 2023 British Pie Week celebration.
The annual event, which takes place on the first Monday in March, highlights the rich history and variety of pies in British cuisine.
The week-long celebration of all things wrapped in a savoury pastry culminates in the hotly contested British Pie Awards, where almost 1,000 pies are judged by industry experts.
While The Farmhouse faces some stiff competition, their culinary creators say it’s their simplicity which will speak volumes in the challenge.
“Mr Farmhouse” says that the company’s four regularly best-selling pies have been submitted: “No fancy changes, no cheating! Just the best we offer every day!”
Based on Old Park Lane in Churchtown, The Farmhouse Kitchen has quickly become a local favourite for their homemade pies and sausage rolls, feeding thousands of hungry residents, workers and visitors from around the town and beyond.
Now their popular pies will travel 100 miles to the Pie capital of Europe – Melton Mowbray!
But the British Pie Week celebrations are just a slice of The Farmhouse Kitchen’s busy month of March, with the team now taking orders for their bespoke Mother’s Day menu.
The menu, which starts from £13.50 per person, features a range of delicious dishes to make Mother’s Day extra special, including their famous “Mum’s Afternoon Tea”, which has sold nearly 10,000 times since The Farmhouse Kitchen opened their doors.
