Family pay tribute to Southport Woman to Julia Pennington-Bell who died in scooter accident

“The family of Julia Pennington-Bell would like to express their grief at the loss of a loving mum who died in a road traffic accident on Queens Promenade, Blackpool, on Sunday 18th September 2016.  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and Julia’s family and her partner Mark would like to pass on their thanks to friends and neighbours for their support at this difficult time.  Family would also like to pass on their thanks to bystanders who assisted with medical assistance prior to emergency services arriving on scene.”

Julia, aged 55, was a passenger on a Vespa Piaggio PX 125 scooter being driven by a 51-year-old man also from Southport.

At around 2:25pm the vehicle was travelling north along Queens Promenade towards Cleveleys and as it passed the Norbreck Castle Hotel, the driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.

Julia was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with head and chest injuries but she sadly passed away yesterday afternoon (19 September).

The male rider also suffered a suspected fractured shoulder.

Sgt 3105 Adam Dawson said: “This appears to be a tragic accident which has resulted in the sad death of a woman.

“If you witnessed anything that could help us with our investigation, please get in touch.”
