Family escape home after toaster catches fire
A Portuguese family were forced to flee their Southport home after a toaster caught fire this afternoon, Friday 6 January 2017.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue were called to the incident at around 3:45pm a Haweside Street flat, Southport, after the kitchen appliance caused the blaze.
Two appliance attended the scene after receiving a call shortly before 4pm, a spokesman for the fire service confirmed.
The spokesman added that there were no injuries as a result of the incident, though some damage was caused to the property’s kitchen. Fire crews left the scene before 5pm.
