The popular Lancashire walking destination has been closed by West Lancashire Borough Council.
Statement from West Lancashire Borough Council:
To protect yourself and your family West Lancashire Borough Council have decided to close Fairy Glen to visitors.
Due to unprecedented and unsafe volume of visitors to Fairy Glen, West Lancashire Borough Council, in consultation with Lancashire Police, has taken the decision to close Fairy Glen in order to protect public health.
Fairy Glen is a small area and the high volume of visitors has made it impossible for people to adhere to the Government’s guidance in relation to social distancing.
The large volume of cars parking nearby has also presented a further hazard to the public.
We are sure that you will agree that your safety is our highest priority and we look forward to welcoming you when it is once again safe to visit.
Please stay alert and stay safe by exercising at a place where you are sure you can be 2m apart.
Remember to make the right choice for you and your family.
Coronavirus is still there, still contagious and potentially deadly to those who become infected and social distancing remains the main preventative measure.
