European outdoor Tug of War Championships to take place on Carr Lane playing fields, Southport
The 2017 European Outdoor Tug of War Championships and World Junior and Under 23 Tug of War Championships will be taking place at Carr Lane Playing Fields in Southport.

Facilities at the venue will include:
A large tug of war arena
Grandstand seating for spectators
Serviced toilet facilities
Food and drink outlet with food and drink available for purchase
LED video screen showing close up footage and score boards
Team area, including team tents
First aid
Chiropractor for use by competitors before, during and after competition.
The European Tug of War Championships are held bi-annually under the auspices of the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF), with the World Tug of War Championships taking place on intervening years.
The European Championships will include four weight classes for mens tug of war teams and two weight classes for ladies tug of war teams. The event will also include the world junior and under 23 championships, which are held annually in conjunction with World and European Championships.
The first two days of the European Championships will see the TWIF open club competition take place, which is open to all tug of war clubs from TWIF member associations. The second two days of the competition will see the international events take place with the European Tug of War Championships and World Junior and Under 23 Championships taking place between the national teams.
This Championships will also include a mixed weight class with the teams competing consisting of four men and four women. Teams will have a maximum weight limit of 600 kilos in this event.
