Trains from Southport station to Manchester Piccadilly are being affected over the Halloween weekend due to planned engineering works.
Trains will be diverted, and for some travellers, you may need to change onto a replacement bus service for part of the journey.
The engineering works will start at 5.00am on Saturday, October 31 with trains starting and terminating from Manchester Victoria.
The works will continue to affect trains until 11.59pm on November 1.
If you need to get a on a replacement bus, National Rail have issued the warning: “We’re sorry but we can’t carry dogs or non-folding prams, pushchairs, bikes and wheelchairs on the replacement buses.”
Some of the routes affected from Southport , means travellers will have to get the Merseyrail line into Liverpool Lime Street and then continue on their journey from there.
The stations affected by the works are: Appley Bridge, Atherton, Bescar Lane, Bolton, Burscough Bridge, Clifton, Daisy Hill, Deansgate, Farnworth, Gathurst, Hag Fold, Hindley, Hoscar, Ince, Kearsley, Kirkby, Manchester Oxford Road, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria, Meols Cop, Moorside , Moses Gate, New Lane, Orrell, Parbold, Pemberton, Rainford, Rochdale, Salford Central, Salford Crescent, Southport , Swinton (Gr Manchester), Upholland, Walkden, Westhoughton, Wigan North Western, Wigan and Wallgate.
