A Southport mum says her Easter has been ‘ruined’ because of safety fears over contaminated Kinder Eggs.
Dozens of shops and supermarkets across the town have pulled Kinder Egg and other Ferrero products from shelves just days before Easter.
It’s due to fears over traces of salmonella and even metal fragments in the chocolate.
Tesco, B&M and Kinder have all issued urgent recall notices this week due to health and safety concerns.
Some products have been linked to salmonella outbreaks, while other foods contain pieces of metal.
Writing to OTS News’ Facebook Page, mum Sandra Stacey said “it sounds dramatic but Easter is ruined for my kids.
“They adore kinder eggs and I’m too scared to buy them this year. I’ve been told the ones still on the shelves are fine but I don’t want to take the risk.”
Fererro have recalled a number of their Kinder products due to an outbreak of salmonella linked to their Arlon site in Belgium between June and April.
Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
