A 4.4 magnitude tremor stuck Wales, with the epicentre near Swansea.
British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed that the earthquake measured 4.4 at a depth of 7.4km and had its epicentre 20km away from Swansea. The epicentre of the earthquake was thought to be in Cwmllynfell in Neath Port Talbot.
BGS stated it was the largest event in the area since 1906.
Reports also confirmed that the tremor was felt in Ormskirk and Southport.
