Drivers in Southport are being urged to check their vehicles after figures released by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) show that last January over half a million cars had a late MOT – with more than 70,000 failing with a dangerous fault.
Putting off your MOT to save money in January might be tempting, but alongside carrying out road safety checks, the DVSA wants drivers to make sure their car has an up to date MOT and sign up for a free MOT reminder.
Last January over half a million cars (534,368) had a late MOT and of those tested late, 71,777 failed as a result of a dangerous defect, such as bald tyres or broken head lights.
