Trains on the Southport to Manchester line may be affected by a nationwide ‘overtime ban’ by a train drivers union.
Northern are one of a number of rail providers thought to be preparing for increased disruption this week.
Members of the Aslef train drivers union will not work overtime from Monday 7 August through to Saturday 12 August.
The latest overtime ban is part of a long-running dispute about pay, jobs and conditions that has seen some severe disruption.
Passengers are advised to check rail services before they travel.
