Driver narrowly escapes death in tree collapse

High winds have caused a tree to collapse narrowly missing a car in Formby.

A pine tree at the junction of Old Town Lane and Piercefield road collapsed after the trunk snapped in high winds caused by Storm Callum.

The tree narrowly missed hitting a black Mercedes SLK.

Fire crews have closed off the road while the tree is cut down and they are warning people to avoid Formby woods for the next few hours.
