Police say they have safely rescued the driver of a vehicle and their passenger after they inadvertently drove their car into the Marine Lake.
A blue Ford was recovered this morning from the Northern shore of the Marine Lake after the driver lost control and slipped down an embankment.
Both of the vehicle’s occupants had managed to escape the car before it became all but submerged.
Luckily for rescue teams the car only sank a few feet in the shallow end of the lakebed, although specialist equipment was needed to drag the car ashore.
Police said both occupants were later taken to hospital where they were being treated for shock.
