Dowd Dynasty continues in Sefton
Elected for Labour this year in the Ford Ward of Bootle is the owner of the twitter hashtag @lizjohnson4_liz Avid Seftonites will immediately recognise Ms Liz Johnson as the former Commissioning, Integration and Partnership Lead for Children and Young People, Sefton MBC and NHS Merseyside.
But this new councillor appears on the Sefton Council website not as Cllr Liz Johnson but as Cllr Liz Dowd.
For she is none other than the second wife of former Council Leader and now MP for Bootle, Peter Dowd.
This brings the Dowd dynasty’s representation on Sefton Council back up to two since Cllr Marion Atkinson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Skills is Peter Dowd’s niece and daughter of former Merseytravel Supremo Mark Dowd.
Interestingly, the ‘Newbie’ Councillor Dowd, who lives in leafy Lunt village, topped the poll in the Ford ward receiving more votes in the same election on the same day as did longtime Sefton Cabinet Member Ian Moncur.
