Ninety-two golfer participated in 18 holes of golf at The Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Raising funds for the Serge Betson Academy.
Dovehaven hosted its first charity golf tournament in Southport on Thursday May 9. Approximately £30,000 was raised to support The Serge Betson Academy, who implement and improve living conditions for young children in Cameroon. The charity lead by Serge Betson, Serge is a huge role model to all he meets; he encourages channels his love for rugby through all his centres in Cameroon.
“The Dovehaven golf tournament was a huge success! The golf course was in spectacular condition and we’re already looking forward to our next event. Thanks to all who helped put it together. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Tournament participants enjoyed a variety of competitions in addition to the golf tournament. Activities included longest drive and closest to the pin, giving the winner of the closets to the pin, tickets to a private box at Manchester United, Sponsored by Unite Legal Assist.
A whole host of amazing donated items were sold at the auction, from a golf day at Loch Lomond, Tickets to the director’s box at Liverpool FC, and a bespoke suit (donated by Vincentius Bespoke).
“It was such an honour to be able to host this incredible day, and thanks Serge for allowing us to unite with his charity, and raise funds to allow his magnificent work to continue,” says Mark Gilbert, owner of Dovehaven, “We are so lucky to be able to play at such an outstanding golf course, in the area.”
