Double award win for hospital apprenticeship team

Aintree University Hospital took home two gongs at the Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Awards.

The hospital was awarded Apprentice Employer, while Emma Greaves, 21, was named Sefton’s Apprentice of the Year.

More than 100 apprentices are currently working towards qualifications at the hospital in a range of areas, including health, pharmacy, business administration, management, IT, electrician, building and engineering.

Among them is Emma, who is studying for an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

Paul Smyth, Apprentice Lead at Aintree University Hospital, said: “We are so proud to win this award, which recognises the quality of apprenticeship we are able to offer, working in conjunction with our partners at Hugh Baird College and Everton in the Community.”

Emma said: “I’m honoured to have won this award. I’ve only been at Aintree for 11 months and I’ve already learnt a huge amount – the team here has been so supportive, I can’t praise them enough.”

Hugh Baird College Principal and Chief Executive, Yana Williams, said: “I would like to congratulate Emma and all at Aintree Hospital on their success. We are delighted to be working with such a forward thinking and driven organisation on a variety of different training initiatives. Securing these awards is an example of how our partnership continues to strengthen and develop.”

The winners were announced during the Liverpool City Region Skills Show, presented by Radio City 2 star Simon Ross.
