It brings a whole new meaning to gridlock. Thats the words of one furious driver along Marshside Road Southport today after a storm drain cover become dislodged and protruded out of the carriageway.

Highways teams have been called to the site but, in the meantime, a solitary and lonely cone has been placed on top of the grid so that motorists at least do not damage their undercarriage. However it’s not quiet enough, as video filmed by OTS News shows, drivers are seeing the hazard far too late and having to slow down to swerve the cone. This is resulting in heavy traffic building up and contractors have been asked to make sure the issue is rectified before this evenings rushhour commute.
