Disabled man derailed by Southport station staff

Staff at Southport station have been slammed for disabled shaming a man with a walking stick.

Commuter Matthew Jones has hit out at merseyrail guards after one told him there was no way he would make his train because of his walking disability.

Despite this Matthew managed to get the train but was left shocked and disgusted by the way he was treated.

He said:

“shoutout to the merseyrail ticket barrier woman who said I missed the 7:58 train and wouldn’t let me through the disabled barrier despite seeing my walking stick. I still made it though and I’m not accepting any excuses.”
