To celebrate Wayfarers Arcade’s 120th birthday a call was put out to find out how people saw this Grade II Victorian treasure which we are so fortunate to have right in the centre of Southport.
Schools and local people were asked to paint, draw, take photographs or write about how they saw Wayfarers and there was a brilliant response.
On Thursday 25 April a presentation event was held in the arcade to which all those students and adults that had taken part in the competition were invited.
The Mayor of Sefton Cllr Dave Robinson attended and presented the trophies and certificates.
Yvonne Burns, Wayfarers Centre Manager said “Particular thanks go to Merchant Taylor’s Girls School, Peterhouse School and Stanley High School whose students really got behind the project. It was so interesting seeing how these young people saw this iconic building.”
An exhibition of the entries is now on in Wayfarers Arcade until 9 May.
