Developer wants to make friends over Mammoth homes plan
A housing developer is trying again to bring Churchtown residents on side so they can start work at a site close to the town’s botanical gardens.
An application by Wainhomes is was approved and heard at Sefton’s planning committee last week.
Sefton’s committee originally heard the application, which covers a swathe of land off Bankfield Lane in the Churchtown area, in June.
At the earlier hearing, plans included a full application for 127 homes, along with an outline application for a further 200 homes, all on land allocated for housing within the area’s local plan.
However, three petitions were presented to members at the meeting on behalf of objectors.
The ward councillor also spoke against the plans and Southport MP Damian Moore warned that schools in the area are at capacity. In total, more than 180 objections were registered, including submissions from individuals in Warrington and Torquay with links to the area.
