Birkdale Park Nursing Home in Southport had the pleasure of hosting the Damien Moore MP.
The visit was at the request of Damien Moore after hearing and seeing so much about the outstanding care work being undertaken by Birkdale Park and the innovative ways they recognise Forces’ Veterans.
Damien was shown around by Registered Care Manager Jonathan Cunningham MBE who is also the Chair and Founder of the North and South Sefton Care Home Group.
Jonathan recently wrote to Boris Johnson after he won the leadership contest. Jonathan encouraged the new PM to honour his campaign pledge to ‘fix social care’ and to publish the long awaited ‘Social Care Green Paper’.
Mr Moore was shown around Birkdale Park, met with the incredible staff and some of the amazing residents. The MP used the opportunity to celebrate Eddie Reeves 87th birthday.
Royal Engineer Veteran Eddie, was one of the few Army personnel to prepare the Monte Bello Island (just off the Australian coast) for nuclear testing in the Pacific in 1954. He still has the tattoos to prove it! He also met with Albert Wrigley (former Navy), James Highton (Ex Army) and Ken Hope (Ex RAF) and RAF Meteor Engineer.
Finally, no visit to Birkdale Park Nursing Home is complete without an obligatory ride in ‘Rickie’ the Birkdale Park rickshaw. Jonathan took the MP for a ride into Southport.
Mr Moore is hoping to take Jonathan’s offer to Boris Johnson for a ride along Southport’s Pier and enjoy a nice ice-cream along our famous promenade.
Let’s just hope its before BREXIT!
