A cyclist remains in a serious condition this morning after veering into traffic yesterday evening in the centre of Birkdale Village.
Paramedics and police officers attended Liverpool Road in Birkdale at approximately 21:30 on Friday evening.
Eyewitnesses told OTS News that a cyclist had veered into oncoming traffic.
The driver passed a breathalyser test and faces no legal action.
Several local establishments on Liverpool Road were open and there were a significant number of witnesses to the incident. Staff from the Allotment administered first aid to the rider, who was treated by paramedics at the scene for around 40 minutes before being taken to hospital.
Drug paraphernalia was recovered from the scene.
Liverpool Road was closed to traffic while investitgations were conducted but the road has fully reopened this morning.
