Thousands of people flocked to Southport Beach today to witness the spectacular return of the Southport Air Show.
Culminating in a full-strength display from the Red Arrows, the first-day show was a stunning return to form for Southport’s flagship tourism events after the worst of the coronavirus pandemic.
While those who attended gave a good account of the show, it was less popular with town-centre motorists, with some reporting two hours of gridlock in and around the Town Centre.
Inside the gates, however, the show was genuinely action-packed for hours, packed with hanging planes, parachutes, model aircraft, an eccentric Korean announcer and death-defying displays.
