Crippling energy prices force closure of popular Birkdale restaurant

Soaring bills have claimed another Southport business after the popular Villagio Cucina shut its doors for the last time today.

In an instagram post the owners of the hugely popular Birkdale restaurant thanks customers for their patronage over the years.

The restaurant has been at the heart of Birkdale Village since it opened twelve years ago.

The closure notice said “It is with great sadness we announce the immediate closure of Villaggio Cucina.

Increased energy prices and soaring food costs have forced us to make this decision.

We would like to thank all our staff and customers for their support over the last 12 years.”
