A Crime Alert for the residents of Southport from Merseyside Police.

Burglaries

Between the 29th April and the 12th May burglaries have taken place in the following locations:

Cross Street, The Walk, Gordon Street (2), Virginia Street, Windsor Road (shed), King Street, Railway Street, Shaws Road, Bedford Road, Lyndhurst Road(2), Falkland Road, Ryder Crescent

Properties left insecure 4

Car keys and a vehicle stolen 2

Attempted burglaries 3

There has been an increase in burglaries or attempted burglaries in Birkdale particularly in the area between Duke Street and Aughton Road. Also an increase has been reported of house and car door handles being tried by would be burglars, to see if the doors are unlocked.

Please be aware of warnings that have been given in past messages. UPVC doors should be secured by lifting the handle to activate the bolts and ensuring the key is turned. The latch itself will not provide adequate security.
