Councillor David Barton, a prominent campaigner for the restoration of Southport Town Centre frequently speaks up on behalf of his many constituents at the Sefton Full Council Meetings.

Councillor Barton, asides from voicing a number of local neighbourhood concerns, spoke up a second time of the need for the Liberal Democrat Opposition to act more professionally and has called on an Opposition Councillor representing Southport Town Centre and Birkdale to issue a formal apology on behalf of his damaging remarks against the Southport general public, which he believes are in fact undermining efforts being made by people of all ages across the community to wish to invest in the Seaside Town.”
