Council tight lipped as Pier debacle continues

There remains no update from a silent council over the future of Southport Pier.

The iconic structure has been closed since Christmas 2022 amid safety fears and rotting deck boards.

Council chiefs said they would update people about repairs to Southport Pier once they received a specialist survey looking at the issues befalling the structure.

However months on the council have said they have no update to give.

No timeline has been given for work to begin nor has a date been set for it to reopen.

Now the pier’s concessionaire has hit out at the council begging them to “pull their finger out.”

They added “ what a wav to treat your leaseholders and the general public.”
