Council need to take a leaf out of Tenby’s book

Southport residents say they can’t believe the cleanliness of other towns compared to the resort.

One man contacted OTS to say his family have recently returned from a trip to Pembrokeshire and it is a million miles better than Southport.

He said “the wife and I have just spent two weeks in the Pembrokeshire area, and came away impressed.

“The first thing you notice is the lack of litter on the ground.

“The second thing is the lack of chewing gum stuck to the pavements, and the third thing is there appears to be no beggars in places like Tenby.

“Now the first two are down to the people, both locals and visitors having a pride in the area, and being trained to either pick it up in the case of litter, or not drop it onto the pavement, in the case of chewing gum.

It’s no good complaining about the council not cleaning up the rubbish. They don’t drop it on the ground, this is down to us, the people who either live
here or visit Southport. The lack of so- called beggars though is down to Pembroke council, who it seems moves them on as fast as they arrived.

“Perhaps Sefton should be doing the same?
Last but not least, were the potholes, or in this case, the lack of them.

“Our landlord told us the minor road outside the holiday let was resurfaced yearly, and any potholes were dealt with within days.
Perhaps Sefton’s MPs should try and find out if Wales receives more money per head of population to deal with resurfacing than the UK, and if so why?”
