Police have issued a promise to panicked Formby residents, saying they won’t tolerate any form of intimidation, vandalism or gang activity in the famously quiet village.
Following reports of ‘roaming’ youths and vandalism across the village and surrounding suburban roads, police in Sefton have said they will act on any intelligence and have implored residents to report any crimes they become aware of.
Merseyside Police’s community inspector Graham Fisher, a popular figure in the force, said: “we will not tolerate people who make life miserable for others by their reckless and criminal behaviour, and we carry out patrols in key areas to deter offending.
“We have a range of tools at our disposal to prevent such behaviour, including increased high visibility patrols and dispersal zones.
“Parents and guardians can also help us put a stop to this – make sure you know where your young people are and that they are not involved in incidents such as these.
“We regularly speak with parents and guardians if we suspect their young people are involved, but we need to work together to prevent such incidents happening.”
