This week Southport Conservatives have been out picking litter along Lord Street.
A group of dedicated volunteers including Birkdale Ward campaigner, Lee Durkin, Kew Ward campaigner Laura Nuttall and Dukes Ward Councillors, Mike Prendergast and Sir Ron Watson met to carry out the litter pick this weekend.
Lee Durkin, Birkdale Ward campaigner, said: “Local Conservatives care passionately about our town and we want to make it the best it can possibly be. While other local councillors and parties might just want to moan about the state of things we decided we would actually do something about it and get stuck in and help.”
Conservative Councillors, Mike Prendergast and Sir Ron Watson, have received many emails and letters from residents regarding the cleanliness of Chapel Street in particular.
Mike Prendergast said: “I have asked Sefton Council about getting Chapel Street thoroughly cleaned with pressure washers rather than just the usual street sweeper. It is one of the gateways to the town and it’s important here and the surrounding areas look as good as they can. While we are waiting though, we will do what we can to help out.”
TLaura Nuttall, Kew Ward campaigner, said: “I think people really appreciate it when their local campaigners and councillors get involved in the local community and we are more than happy to try and do our bit to improve our town for residents and visitors.”
