The mother of 12-year-old Semina Halliwell, who passed away in hospital in early June, has said that her daughter took her own life after being raped.

Rachel Halliwell says that Semina received “daily” bullying online following an alleged incident of sexual assault “by a boy from her school”.

Semina’s mother has posted a chilling account of the situation to Facebook which has received thousands of shares.

“Semina could not take any more of the bullying online she received daily and the fact that this boy took her innocence away from her at the age of 12…..she took her life.”

“The boys mother has repeatedly said ‘girls take their own lives all the time’. She is in denial and protecting a rapist who actually has done it before.”

”The last words my baby said to me before they put her in a coma was ****** ******** is a rapist and he raped me.”

OTS is not aware of any individual being arrested or charged in connection with the alleged rape of Ms Halliwell.

Semina Halliwell was initially stabilised in hospital following an overdose, but eventually succumbed to a number of heart attacks before losing her life at Alder Hey on Saturday 12 June. Friends, family and hundreds of well-wishers held a vigil in memory of Semina on Southport beach last week.

Last week Merseyside Police said: “At around 2.30am on Wednesday 9 June we received a report of a concern for safety of a 12-year-old child in Southport.

“It was reported that the child had ingested a harmful quantity of prescribed drugs at her home on North Road.

“The child was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly passed away on Saturday 12 June.

“An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances.

“Her death has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) due to recent police contact with her family.”

Responding to the latest disclosures a Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm we are investigating an allegation of rape in Southport in February this year.

“A report was received on 23 March that a 12-year-old girl had been raped at an address in Southport on 25 February.

“An investigation was launched and a juvenile has voluntarily attended a police station for interview.

An IOPC spokesperson told OTS News: “We received a mandatory referral from Merseyside Police in relation to the death of a 12-year-old girl in Southport.

“After assessing the information, we have directed the force to carry out a local investigation.”
