The Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing – Councillor Trish Hardy (LitherlandWard), recently awarded grants from the Community Transition Fund to the following organisations –
Marine Football Club, Sefton Community Carers Centre, Hope Community Church, St Nicholas Church in Blundellsands, Imagine Independence and Bath Street Table Tennis Club in Bootle.
Each grant is expected to be between £8000 and £25000. There is no doubt that wherever funds from the Community Transition Fund are granted they will make a positive difference to the communities they serve.
It will be noted however, that none of the organisations awarded grants from the most recentdisbursement are based in Southport.
Councillor Tony Brough says
“I am content that organisations in receipt of grants from the Community Transition Fund are deserved, but I am disappointed to note that no Southport based Community organisation is a beneficiary”
The awarding of grants from the Community Transition Fund is made to Community groups with a qualifying funding need. It is a little worrying that worthy groups and organisations in Southport missed out entirely.
In 2015 a decision was made by Cabinet to set aside £1 million for The Community Transition Fund, to date £907.86 has been disbursed from it. There remains an available balance of £118.107.
Councillor Brough says “I would encourage all Southport based Community groups and organisations with a funding need to make application to Cabinet Member Councillor Trish Hardy at the earliest opportunity”.
Community Organisations that might wish to make application for funding should be addressed to:
