Councillor David Barton, a long- standing campaigner for Southport’s restoration and regeneration has held multiple discussions with prospective investors regarding the most suitable style of development here benefitting the entire community.
In that time various proposals have included a luxury Golf Resort Hotel and now more recently a tranquil retirement complex that will not only serve to protect another landmark building here in the resort town, but provide a sympathetic utilisation of the land for the local community in the long- term future.
Councillor Barton is once again highlighting the importance of achieving the best possible outcomes for everyone by adopting his approach of operating on a mutual basis of respect and sincerity.
Councillor Barton told OTS News:
“As a long- standing campaigner for the restoration and regeneration of Southport it would be a welcome pleasure to see this landmark building here in West Birkdale brought back into occupation and restored to its true former glory.
Considering both the grave need to save this building which has been up to now placed upon Sefton’s Heritage At Risk Register and a peaceful harmonious outcome for the surrounding neighbours, this would be a great way forward for our local community.
Naturally I shall be encouraging all residents living around or on Lancaster Road to partake in this consultation which is very transparent and may provide a chance to further contribute towards the improvement of Birkdale.
At this time I should like to remind everyone, especially other Councillors of the need to adopt a mutually respectful and sincere approach when putting forward case arguments either for or against such proposals. Having consulted with a variety of constituents myself, it is my hope that as much of the greenspace may also be retained for outdoor activities wherever feasible.”
